Counting becomes a hands-on game
Counting feels more inviting when there is something to pick up, place and share. This hedgehog counting stick game turns sticks into spines on a illustrated board and gives children a small, clear task to explore together.
You choose a stick, find a place for it, and the drawn hedgehog fills up little by little as the game goes on. The board gathers four hedgehogs around the centre, surrounded by small illustrated details such as leaves, a ladybird or fruit, depending on the version.
The included dice offer another way to take turns or make up a simple counting game. The play can change with the group instead of following one fixed sequence.
The board gives the loose pieces a shared focal point. It is easy to sit next to your child, show a movement, then let them try in turn. It is a quiet activity to bring out on the table for a calm moment for two or for a small group.
Two versions are offered. Forest Sticks has brown sticks, which take on the colour of the hedgehogs' spines. Fruit Sticks has sticks in several colours, with illustrated fruit on the board, according to the photos. They show each version from above or in close-up.
When the game is over, gather the small sticks and the dice carefully, and supervise the use of the pieces during play. Put the board on the table, sit side by side and let the first hedgehog get its spines back.
